Talk to someone about what happened

The first call is a conversation about the facts — where and when, what was hit, who else was involved, what has already been said to an insurer. It is free, it is confidential, and it does not oblige you to do anything afterwards. If a claim is not worth bringing, you will be told that.

If there is a case worth looking at, the first practical step is usually a written request that the records be preserved: the footage from whatever faced the junction, the vehicles before they are repaired or sold at salvage, the emergency call audio. That letter matters far more in the first month than anything else that can be done.
